A Note from Marguerita Cheng, CFP® Pro — Welcome to “Margaritas with Marguerita,” my weekly radio show where each Friday at 5 pm EST my guests and I share insight into how women can strengthen their financial muscles to gain financial security.
Featured on tonight’s show: I interview Rene Nourse, founder of Urban Wealth Management.
Our topic: “Women and Wealth: The Next New Normal in the US.”
- The shift of the majority ownership of wealth management from men to women is taking place this decade. What challenges have women experienced over the last several centuries, and how will this play into the changing times?
- What types of platforms and support systems need to be developed to provide financial competency and generate confidentiality to help a woman take control of her financial life?
- How can women accurately assess the lifestyle they desire and deserve to build, to live the life of their dreams — for the rest of their lives?
- What do women need to do to create a financial legacy for themselves and their loved ones?
-
You’ll also learn about René’s background, how she came to work in the financial industry, the magnificent impact her mom has made on her life — and why focusing on women is so important.
More about René Nourse, CFP©: The Founder and CEO of Urban Wealth Management Group, René spent 25 years as a financial advisor in the corporate world before leaving Morgan Stanley in June of 2012 to launch her firm. Sensing that a shift was taking place in the industry, she wanted to create a platform focused on strategic financial planning alongside investment management to serve clients better.
To that end, the firm’s focus is financial planning first, which drives how one’s assets are to be managed. Also, recognizing that many women face unique and complex financial challenges, the Smart Women/Savvy Money Club was formed to provide a supportive, secure environment where women are encouraged to learn, explore and feel confident about making financial decisions.
A frequent guest speaker and contributor on women and finance, she has been recognized as a trailblazer and financial expert. Since 2013, she has been a guest commentator on CNBC’s Closing Bell Report, an awardee of Investment News’ Women to Watch in 2017, a Five Star Wealth Manager since 2014, and in 2018, was recognized by Los Angeles Business Journal as one of LA’s Most Influential Wealth Managers. In January of 2019, she became the 10th president of the Association of African American Financial Advisors.
