About Pilar: I joined Cargo Facts as Editor in September 2026 in order to merge my extensive aviation & aerospace knowledge with my journalism skills in order to shape the future of an established brand. Cargo Facts covers the air cargo/ freighter market in all of is facets, and helps sort through the news moving the global logistics industry.

Prior to CF, I worked for AOPA’s Air Safety Institute as a training and safety expert, developing innovative video and text content to help general aviation pilots make better decisions, and to bring down the fatal accident rate. Between 2019 and 2025, I spent more than five years at UK-based aviation trade publication group FlightGlobal as a reporter and editor, covering the airline & air transportation beats across Europe, and North & Latin America, as well as writing about advanced air mobility, training and diversity topics. My stories appeared in Flight International, Airline Business, Flight Daily News & flightglobal.com. In 2022, I was named Aerospace & Aviation reporter of the year at the Aerospace Media Awards in London.

Earlier, I spent 13 years in strategic corporate communications and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) roles with increasing responsibility for global leaders in their sectors – aviation, information technology, management consulting and cocoa & chocolate manufacturing. I have experience in every facet of the communications function, ranging from strategy development to media relations to reputation risk/crisis management, to ghostwriting and more.

I began my journalism career at the global wire agencies Reuters and Bloomberg as a Producer, Staff Correspondent, Writer and Editor, traveling throughout Europe, the Persian Gulf and the Middle East covering breaking news as it happened. My Master’s degree is from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, I also hold a B.A. (Honours) in History from Queen’s University at Kingston (Canada) and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in CSR Management from the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland).
