Jan. 6, 2021: I wrote this song the day that chaos befell the US capitol. Like most Americans, I felt heartbroken, appalled, and ashamed of society and our government systems. The only thing I could do to process what I was seeing was to sit down and create. This was what came out of me.

The House is Shaking

I won’t stay here
Not after yesterday
I can’t look at this and say
I will be part of this in any way

I can’t take it
The walls all are shaking
The system’s breaking
How will we make it?

I won’t stay here
if our freedom ain’t the same
we gave our power to puppets who make all the calls
put our liberty to shame

I can’t take it
The walls all are shaking
The system’s breaking
How will we make it?

I won’t stay here
I won’t call this a home
beautiful black lives were killed in vain
all integrity is gone

I can’t take it
The walls all are shaking
The systems breaking
How will we make it?

I won’t stay here
Not after yesterday

The Healing Has Arrived

It seems the veil has been ripped off the American facade of liberty, freedom, and justice for all. Sort of like an old band-aid that needs to be pulled off because the wound isn’t healing properly. Ouch! The boo-boo is deep, and it hurts. We need to look at what’s happening inside and heal the festering deeper wound inside our country and ourselves.

Without regurgitating the horror and political rhetoric of the past few days of turmoil on our nation’s Capitol, I chose to seek healing. It’s the only place to turn. To pray for truth, love, and goodness to prevail. To pray to God to restore our faith in truth and goodness.

Jordan Peterson says it perfectly: “When systems fall apart, that which has been ignored rushes forth.” This is our call to action to HEAL that which is rushing forth and screaming to be healed.

The deepest call to action is the awakening of a spiritual renaissance of remembering that we are indeed spiritual beings in human bodies. We are created in the image of God and interconnected sparks of the same Creation story. It seems we have forgotten our souls’ true purpose here on this Earth Plane… It’s surely not represented by the travesty of current US events.

The latest tragic events on the White House beg deeper questions from your life. Why are you here? What are you doing to nurture your soul and to make a difference?
