Celebrate independent film with Patti North, Founder and Executive Director of the annual Alexandria Film Festival

About Patti North: As Founder and Executive Director of the annual Alexandria Film Festival, now in its 20th year, Patti built a nonprofit organization that is funded entirely from grants, corporate, and individual donations, and supported by more than 100 volunteers. Every year, filmmakers, audiences, artists, and supporters come together to create an unforgettable experience filled with creativity, connection, and inspiration. From powerful screenings to meaningful conversations, our festival leaves a lasting impression on everyone who attends.

A senior-level professional with a wide variety of career experiences—as a communications and marketing executive, fundraiser, lobbyist, business consultant, arts advocate, community organizer, and entrepreneur. Recently retired as Director of Advancement Communications for Georgetown University, Office of Advancement, she was responsible for developing all direct marketing appeals to increase alumni participation and drive annual giving dollar growth at a top-tier institution; writing and editing for numerous publications, including two magazines; and speechwriting for board chair and other university leaders.

“As Associate Director of Development Communications at Georgetown University, I held primary responsibility for developing high-dollar funding proposals to attract corporate, foundation, and individual giving as part of a $1.5 billion fundraising campaign that was successfully concluded in 2016,” shares Patti, a Principal of PNR Public Affairs, developed successful grant proposals for clients, primarily in the nonprofit sector directed at federal, state, and local governments, as well as private foundations.

As Associate Executive Director of the Travel and Tourism Government Affairs Council, Patti served as chief lobbyist for the nation’s travel and tourism industry, developing legislative and political strategy, communicating industry positions to Congress and the executive branch, and successfully advocating for key policy initiatives of interest to the travel industry.
