A Note from Marguerita Cheng, CFP® — On today’s episode of Margaritas with Marguerita, we’d be remiss to not talk about the horrible hate crimes against Asian Americans that are happening around the country. In fact, according to the advocacy group Stop AAPI Hate, there have been nearly 3,800 hate incidents against Asian American and Pacific Islanders between March 19, 2020, and Feb. 28, 2021.

The reason? “Many suspect this is because these innocent Americans are being blamed for the coronavirus pandemic,” shares Rita who points to President Joe Biden’s push for Congress to pass the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act.

“As a proud and wonderful Asian American who grew up in America, I take this opportunity to talk about my experience and share my thoughts on these dramatic events,” says Rita, who’s number one tip is “Support the Asian businesses in your area!”
