Lisa is the author of the forthcoming audiobook for grade school children titled, “Be Nice and the K9 Crew” and the development of a smartphone app called “He’s My Boyfriend,” which offers single women access to a virtual Automotive Service Excellence mechanic, who serves as their car maintenance advocate.
What she does: Lisa develops impactful storytelling and immersive educational experiences inspired by real-world dilemmas. She began her career as a social worker with New York City’s Department of Protective Services for Adults, where she witnessed society’s most pressing challenges. Lisa credits this experience to her creative problem-solving skills—the precursor to her production of timely media communications.
She went on to excel as a communication strategist, leading global multimedia and marketing campaigns for the American Psychiatric Association, where she collaborated with world-renowned mental health experts and members of congress. Lisa has held leadership roles in strategic communications, advocacy, and program management, advancing initiatives in mental health, wellness, social services, and education. Her ability to multitask under pressure was sharpened during her time as video coordinator for Good Morning Washington, where she thrived in the fast-paced world of breaking news.
Lisa holds a BA in Mass Media Communications from Hampton University and an MA in Producing for Film/Video from American University. She is a certified facilitator of the Strengthening Families Program and is completing certification through the Virginia Workforce Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center.
Why she does it: “My lifelong love of writing, creativity, and advocacy guides my commitment to elevating marginalized voices and sparking positive change, one project at a time,” says Lisa, a native of New York living in Northern Virginia to care for her powerhouse of a mom. She credits her with the creativity she shares with the world, and dedicates her work to her two-year-old granddaughter. “PollyAnna Dreams Pictures celebrates women of all ages, and focuses on making our world a better place for future generations so they can know the freedom we wish to see.”
